IGERT Alumni Presenting at Austin Energy Symposium

Description

Sean Wood, IGERT Alumni, will be presenting, Improved Lithium-ion Batteries using Lead Telluride (PbTe) at The University of Texas at Austin Energy Symposium, April 24, 2014. Sean graduated from Georgia Tech in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and is currently a 3rd year PhD student in the Chemical Engineering department at UT. Under the guidance of Dr. Buddie Mullins and Dr. Adam Heller, he does research on lithium ion batteries to make them cheaper and safer while charging faster and lasting longer. He also holds a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. Outside of his research, Sean enjoys volunteering at events that introduce children to basic concepts of science and engineering so that they may one day be inspired to join these fields themselves.
