New collaboration between departments

Statement from Peter Ciesielski: Recently, the departments of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Chemistry at Vanderbilt have forged a new collaboration with the Department of Chemistry at Tennessee State University (HBCU). This collaboration, in which I was the first student to participate, was initiated so that nano-structured substrates prepared in our labs at Vanderbilt could be characterized using the Raman Spectroscopy capabilities at TSU. Since I began this project several months ago, I have trained additional students from the Electrical Engineering department at Vanderbilt to use the facility at TSU, thereby extending the collaboration to a fourth department. In addition, we have plans to invite Nsoki Phambu, our primary collaborator from TSU, to Vanderbilt over the summer to work closely with us to learn about some of the nanofabrication techniques and methods we have developed in labs associated with the Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
