Tribunal proceedings of Rwanda genocide

One of our first year IGERT trainees, Willa Friedman, has managed to procure data on the tribunal proceedings that followed the Rwanda genocide of the early 1990s where the members of the majority Hutu tribe massacred several million members of the minority Tutsi tribe. Ms. Friedman is currently matching data on the proportion of local Hutus that participated in the genecode to region-level data on the economic disparities between Hutus and Tutsis prior to the genocide. The first chapter of her dissertation will be assessing whether higher proportions of Hutus participated in the killlings in regions where the economic disparities between Tutsis and Hutus was the greatest.
