Trainees participate in discussions on ocean acidification, marine spatial planning

IGERT trainees and faculty participants engaged with partners outside the community on multiple occasions. In Autumn 2012 trainees and faculty participated in a public event hosted by representatives of the Washington aquaculture industry to jointly explore the impacts of ocean acidification on oyster production in Washington. In Spring 2013 trainees and faculty traveled to the outer coast of Washington to meet with representatives of state agencies, coastal tribes, and others to discuss marine spatial planning in Washington. In Spring 2013 IGERT faculty and trainees traveled to Bellingham, Washington, to attend a ceremony at the Northwest Indian College.
