Interface between Duke immersive Virtual Environment (DiVE) and MATLAB

Additional significant progress was made in the development of a software interface between the Duke immersive Virtual Environment (DiVE) and MATLAB. Most of our sensor path planning work is simulated and tested in MATLAB. To visualize the simulation and result, we use plot functions provided by MATLAB. Usually, the data, such as the workspace, the potential shape, and the sensor field of view, have higher dimensions than two. We can plot 3D figures in MATLAB, however, the 3D figures are projected in 2D due to the monitor limits. The DiVE can visualize 3D objects. Outcomes: A DiVE user, doesn’t need to change or add MATLAB code in their research. After connecting their computer to the DiVE, the 3D figure drawn using their MATLAB code is directly visualized in the DiVE.
