Trainees trained in technology transfer

Trainees received training in technology transfer; this was accomplished via presentations from inventors, entrepreneurs, staff from Kent State’s technology transfer office, staff from our entrepreneurship center, and a university lawyer. In addition, trainees visited Kent’s Centennial Research Park and business accelerator where they could see the outcomes of some of the inventions that we discussed. One particular focus was the invention, licensing and marketing process for a liquid crystal based sensor used for detecting microorganism since this example is particularly relevant to the themes of EARS IGERT. Trainees put together these various pieces to make a concept map. In addition, trainees (working in teams) developed mock business plans and presented these plans to other trainees and faculty.
