Development of multiscale turbulence models

Jason Graham completed the development of multiscale turbulence models, and he has also worked with the “big data” associated with large-scale turbulence models. In the large-scale turbulence database work, major progress was made this year in developing the computational tools and performing the simulations. For this work he is part of a team that is generating a ~50TB database of turbulent channel flow. They are currently preparing for the data collection which is expected to begin within a few weeks. Once data collection begins they will generate the database “on the fly” using MPI-DB which Jason is working to develop. Jason published his first article, which can be found at: http://pof.aip.org/resource/1/phfle6/v24/i12/p125105_s1. He has also submitted 2 journal publications that are currently under review.
