Three IGERT trainess receive grants and fellowships

Three of our IGERT trainees received small grants and fellowships during the year. Yvette Williams received a pre-dissertation fellowship of $2,000 from the Community Forestry & Environmental Research Partnership Fellowship Program sponsored by University of California Berkeley. This award supports research materials, supplies, software, travel for early stages of community based participatory research. Yvette Williams also received a travel grant to attend and present at the ESA 2008 meeting. Olyssa Starry was awarded a $500 Sigma XI grant for a project entitled, The effects of greenroofs on urban freshwater systems; translating ecological analyses into model predictions for community use. This grant enabled Ms. Starry to purchase supplies and equipment. Barbara Beckingham received a small grant from the International Network for Sediment Research (INSR) for travel and accommodations during a research exchange at Newcastle University in the UK from May 23-30, 2009.
