Trainee leads "Best Practices in Teaching and Learning" module

Tasha Zephirin, Purdue U. -- Leading the “Best Practices in Teaching and Learning” module in my second year as IGERT trainee has given me hands on experience in using my Engineering Education coursework to develop a module for "technically-minded" peers. The transition from my technical engineering background to the more social-science focused Engineering Education graduate program was personally challenging and to turn around and develop similar coursework for my peers was intimidating. However, the ability to deliver the module in a "safe" environment provided me an opportunity to translate educational research findings to practice, gain a deeper understanding and confidence with the material, and stretch my thinking about how to best present this information for adoption by a technical audience.
