New methods for next-gen DNA sequencing and bioinformatics identification

Associate Bergey’s primary research interest is in molecular primatology, but her interdisciplinary training and professional network has allowed her to combine these interests with studies of conservation and behavior of primates in the field. Based on her research in the laboratory she has published two papers on new methods for next-gen DNA sequencing and bioinformatics identification. In addition, she recently published an innovative paper on a metagenomic study of New World primate dietary diversity by amplifying arthropod DNA from primate feces. In terms of her field research, she has collaborated with teams working in the Democratic Republic of Congo on primate conservation and in Zambia on the population biology of Kinda baboons.
