Fellows characterize repeated mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)

IGERT Fellows Anthony Bianchi and Virginia Donovan worked together to characterize repeated mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) on a large dataset of T2 magnetic resonance images (MRI). They compared the state-of-the-art methods for the automatic detection of mTBI and developed a new approach to overcome the limitations of the current methods. They worked in an interdisciplinary team consisting of a MRI specialist and an expert on computer algorithms for image analysis. They have published jointly co-authored conference and journal papers. The journal paper is:

V. Donovan, A. Bianchi, R. Hartman, B. Bhanu, M.J. Carson, and A. Obenaus, “Computational analysis reveals increased blood deposition following repeated mild traumatic brain injury,” NeuroImage Clinical, 1, pp. 18-28, Sept. 2012.
