Symposium attracts leaders in field of cellular complexity

In collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Nordin lecture, ICE IGERT organized a one-day symposium to attract leaders in the field of cellular complexity and encourage discussion at the leading edge of this field. Nancy Allbritton (UNC/NC State), Wolfgang Baumeister (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry), Renée Deehan Kenney (VP Research, Selventa), Wendell Lim (UCSF), and Pam Silver (Harvard Medical School) engaged the research community with new directions in cellular complexity and fostered interactions amongst engineers and biologists through an idea-inspiring program of talks, a networking luncheon, and an interactive poster session. More than 150 people from 18 academic institutions and 3 companies enjoyed high energy talks, 36 posters, and vendor exhibition. To enhance networking opportunities, ICE IGERT students participated in a sit-down breakfast with invited speakers to discuss research and career path opportunities.
