Meetings help interdisciplinary discussions and approaches

Over the past year, school of management student Eric Peterson brought a considerably different viewpoint to discussions with the engineering students in the IGERT. In particular, during the past years’ trainees meetings, time has been spent presenting and reviewing each trainee’s research to the other Fellows. This has resulted in both deeper understanding by the reviewers of areas not directly related to their research, but in several cases, has provided opportunities for reviewers to make sources, methods, and tools they were aware of available to other trainees. These meetings have clearly demonstrated the value of interdisciplinary discussions and approaches.
