Achievement

Our program helps accelerate students' progress towards completion of their degrees by integrating course assignments with different phases of dissertation research preparation. For example, they write a broad literature review on their research topic in our first course, pulling in relevant threads from other disciplines that they gain exposure to in the course; they make a conceptual framework/model of their research problem in the second semester, as well as developing their dissertation research proposal, with peer and mentor feedback, in their professional skills development seminar. Most other (non-IGERT) students have not achieved half of this by the end of their first year as doctoral students.
