Trainee invited to 18th Annual Exhibition on Capitol Hill

At the invitation of the Ecological Society of America, GLOBES IGERT Trainee Sarah Roley was a participant in a special event on Capitol Hill on May 15, 2012, that showcases research and education activities made possible by funding through the National Science Foundation. Sarah's research centers on mitigating nutrient pollution in agricultural areas. She compares the cost effectiveness of various management practices designed to reduce nitrogen pollution that results in water contamination, coastal hypoxic zones and loss of biodiversity. The assessment study also fulfills the GLOBES interdisciplinary chapter requirement. Organized by the Coalition for National Science Funding, the 18th Annual Exhibition and Reception was held for members of Congress and their staffs on Capitol Hill. The event attracted several hundred congressional attendees, along with representatives from the Administration, including the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy and NSF.
