Institutionalization of IGERT program at UF

As we are now in our 7th year, our main educational achievements revolve around institutionalization of the IGERT program, its core curriculum, the establishment of a certificate in water sciences through UF’s Water Institute, and the significant impact we have had on interdisciplinary education throughout the four Colleges we are actively involved in. The University now provides 6 four year Water Institute Graduate Fellowships (WIGF) modeled after our IGERT program so that the program is now an integral part of graduate opportunities at UF. We continued to have our WIGF’s working with Law students in an interdisciplinary water law program, teach our undergraduate watersheds course, mentor undergraduate students in a University wide program designed to foster undergraduate research, and working with the EPA Center of Excellence for Watershed Management.
