Trainee develops ecotoxicology workshop for professionals

Louise Venne, IGERT Trainee in wildlife ecology was asked to develop and teach a day-long ecotoxicology workshop based on her IGERT research (“Pollutants and Wildlife Management: Ecotoxicology for Biologists and Land Managers”). The workshop was for professionals from government and private industry and was held at the annual meeting of The Wildlife Society. The purpose of the workshop was to give biologists and land managers unfamiliar with contaminant management a basic understanding of the terminology, framework, and process that a pollution assessment would go through to determine if clean up and remediation is necessary and feasible. It also provided these professionals with a toolkit to communicate knowledgeably with contaminant specialists so they can work toward common goals.
