Quantum features in magnetic nanoparticles magnetization dynamics

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) are promising systems with a wide range of applications in industry, science, and medicine. Our research explains the quantum features in MNP magnetization dynamics using quantatization approach. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies in complex biological systems demonstrated that MNPs related contribution to the longitudinal relaxation nonmonotonnously varies with the system viscosity, with the position of the maximum depending on the particle size. The most efficient size of MNPs for T1 related imaging applications in viscous biological media has been determined. Moreover, ultra-small MNP were shown to be suitable for design of tunable metamaterials, in which propagation of electromagnetic waves can be controlled with external magnetic fields.
