Achievement

The IGERT has continued to stress the importance of its lab rotation system for new IGERT students. Each entering IGERT students has a research experience in three labs, working on existing projects alongside current lab members or on more speculative projects with longer-term reward. This process provides interdisciplinary training, pushes new graduate students into starting the research process, and provides a matching procedure for finding longer-term mentors during the IGERT and beyond.
