Trainees secure professional positions

Seven MILES trainees have completed their degrees and graduated from Virginia Tech. Three MILES trainees and one MILES associate graduated in the fall of 2008 and have secured professional positions in academia or industry. Tameshia Ballard is an assistant professor in the Department of Food Sciences at Purdue University; John Layman is a senior scientist at Procter and Gamble; Sharlene Williams is a senior scientist at Dupont Corporation; and Pinar Omur-Ozbek is a research assistant professor at Colorado State University. Three MILES trainees completed their degrees in the spring of 2009. Shelly Hogan is a research associate/adjunct professor at Montana State University; Jon Goff is a senior research scientist at Geliest Inc; and Andrew Whelton is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. After graduation, Ben Lepene will work as a senior research scientist at Ceres Nanosciences, in Manassas, VA.
