Achievement

IGERT course (R. Norris and S. Frank instructors) with a focus on recent perspectives on global change and its implications for society and conservation. Assigned readings and discussion on government and NGO reports on global change themes as well as several popular books. Students practiced a variety of different writing and communication styles to discuss aspects of the topics presented in the readings. Weekly lectures by professional writers, investigative reporters, development officers, and legislative coordinators introduced writing and proposal development in each of their specialties. Student prepared press releases, blog posts, narrated slide shows, pod casts, op-ed, and fund-raising appeals as class project assignments.
