Trainee serves as Vice President of AHRC

Trainee Elizabeth Walsh (Community and Regional Planning) serves as Vice President of Austin's Housing Repair Coalition (AHRC), a group of over 17 organizations committed to improving indoor environmental quality and resource-efficiency of low-income housing, the focus of her dissertation research. In 2010, AHRC was honored as the best collaborative effort in the City of Austin. Elizabeth also works with the nonprofit 1house at a time to incorporate healthy homes education in its weatherization work, including brochures developed by several IGERT trainees. In 2011, Elizabeth spearheaded the Holly Neighbors Helping Neighbors demonstration project which aims to build a more connected, healthy, affordable and sustainable neighborhood through volunteer-based green home renovation. Elizabeth published two white papers on grand challenges in the Social Behavioral Economic Science including one referencing the importance of indoor air quality and transdisciplinary research in this area.
