Alum receives honors as top Hispanic in technology

IGERT alumnus Dr. Robinson Pino was nominated by the US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) to compete for the SHPE "HISPANIC IN TECHNOLOGY GOVERNMENT" award. The PI wrote a supporting letter for him. Dr. Pino is a Senior Electronics Engineer in the area of Advanced Computing Architectures. His IGERT training was to combine both non-linear optics and bulk crystal growth of III-V compound semiconductors THz emitters to conduct research in THz science and technology. He passed on his knowledge to IGERT trainee Adam Gennett who received his PhD degree in 2011. Dr. Pino’s honors include one of the "Top 200 Influential Hispanics in Technology" by the Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine (HE&IT) 2011; Scientist/Engineer of the Year, AFRL, Information Directorate, 2011 for his outstanding scientific or technical management achievements in a research and development program during the last 12 months; and Engineer of the Year Award, IEEE – Mohawk Valley Section, 2011.
