Ambitious effort to understand tornadoes

VORTEX2 is the largest, most ambitious effort ever made to understand tornadoes. Our IGERT faculty members and trainees are participating in this unique, fully nomadic, field program in May/June 2009. The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) together are contributing towards this effort to understand the genesis of tornadoes. Participants from IGERT include trainees Brown, Giammanco, Lombardo, and Pattison. IGERT Faculty members include Schroeder and Weiss. These participants will travel throughout the Midwest of U.S. while being headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK.
