Research Achievements

Germanium (Ge) in copper zinc tin sulfide (CZTS) based solar cells

We developed and successfully demonstrated an idea that incorporation of germanium (Ge) in copper zinc tin sulfide (CZTS) based solar cells can be beneficial in increasing its open circuit voltage. This is the first time that an improvement in power conversion efficiency due to the incorporation of Ge in the earth abundant CZTS has been demonstrated. This further proved the attractiveness of our nanocrystal based route.
