IGERT activities are positively impacting trainees' self-reported interdisciplinary research, leadership, and collaboration skills. The weekly seminar, international travel, and the core research teams were noted as having positive impact on all three of the skills sets, shown by the yearly skills and impact survey. According to pre- and post-participation survey results, trainees are more inclined to agree with statements regarding the ability to apply theories and methods from other disciplines in their own research after participating in the IGERT program and their ability to use qualitative research methods. Also, trainees are more inclined to feel they listen carefully to opinions of the group and have an appreciation of colleagues' feedback on research after being involved in the IGERT program.
