Team-taught class on Gerontechnology

We designed a new team-taught class on Gerontechnology. Professors from Engineering and Psychology teamed up to introduce students to topics in technology to study and assist with healthy aging, and each class period was punctuated with discussions of how technology could be designed and used to better understand and to address challenges that arise with aging. Visitors came in throughout the semester to provide unique perspectives on issues. These included physicians who posed challenge problems to the students, a panel of area-wide caregivers who discussed the challenges they face, as well as experts on human factors and on architectural design for aging communities. Students completed two homework assignments, a presentation, and a class project, all of which were conducted in multi-disciplinary teams.
