Activity level and sleep quality

Carolyn Parsey, one of our IGERT trainees in Clinical Psychology, is working with researchers from Computer Science and from Statistics to study the relationship between activity level during the day, cognitive performance, and sleep quality. In the study that she is conducting individuals wear accelerometer-based watches to estimate energy expenditure during the day and sleep quality at night. Sleep quality is computed as a function of total sleep hours, restlessness during sleep, and number of wakings. Carolyn has published her results with a multidisciplinary team of authors at an international psychology conference.
