New ground in watershed science

Although the end of this project year marks < 12 months of Trainee research, the group is well underway and looks to break new ground in interdisciplinary and intensively collaborative research in the Cache River Basin and in watershed science as a whole. The team-based approach provides a model for environmental and management-oriented education nationwide. From Day 1, the cadre has been immersed in Cache watershed issues, starting with a week-long excursion to the Cache. Later, the cadre organized and hosted the Cache Research Symposium, attended by researchers, resource managers, environmental groups, local politicians, and landowners. This semester, the Cache team has been interning with key science and management organizations, while successfully integrating their work as a team. We sincerely believe that a new model is being created, conducting cutting-edge research in different disciplines, but integrating that research and its policy implications.
