Understanding micro-scale flows

IGERT Fellow Eamonn Walker has successfully worked with Professor Damien Tromeur-Dervout of the University of Lyon, in applying Schwarz domain decomposition and Aitken acceleration to the two solvers in a two-phase flow code (SVD-based acceleration for the variable-coefficient pressure solver, and an analytic acceleration for the true Poisson density solver). Working with his advisor Professor Nikitopoulos he is using it to more efficiently conduct his investigations aiming at furthering the understanding of micro-scale two-phase segmented flows towards the development of bio-analytical, micro-chip based instruments, in collaboration with Professor Stephen Soper from the LSU Chemistry Department.
