Achievement

The trainees in the IGERT program are given the tools necessary to excel in life after graduate studies. Whether the student enters industry or academia, they can end up working in a different field or topic than they trained in their years as graduate students. IGERT gives the students a well rounded knowledge that will assist in this transition that is often difficult for those who do not have the multi-disciplinary background. In a competitive global economy, these are necessary skills. In addition, it gives the students experience in collaboration with other people and groups. Regardless of career choice, they will need to collaborate with others if they are to succeed.
