Diodes to optimize flow

Brittany Branch has been working on fabrication and characterization of the closed rectangular loop microfluidic device with semiconductor diodes incorporated in a specific location along the channel wall. This year she gained a better understanding of the importance of the type of diodes used to enable electro-osmotic flow. A series of experiments were performed to test different diodes, and criterion was established for the specifications that optimized flow throughout the channel. Continuous flow throughout the channel with semiconductor diodes was achieved and recorded using micron-sized polystyrene beads.
