Trainee wins Best Student Paper award

Trainee Jack Kittinger received the Thomas E. Bigford 'Best Student Paper' Award at The Coastal Society's 22nd International Conference, for his paper entitled "Historical Reconstruction Reveals Recovery in Hawaiian Coral Reefs," presented 15 June 2010, Wilmington, NC. He also received the Marc J. Hershman Travel Scholarship to attend the same conference. Subsequently he successfully defended and completed his dissertation research, graduating with his doctoral degree in Geography. Jack's research, which exemplifies transdisciplinary integration, was not only guided intellectually by his IGERT training but made possible as a result of all the wide, international network he has become part of and has helped build through out IGERT project.
