Achievement

As an example of the breadth of thinking that we aim to produce in our trainees, the current cohort's IPEM team project is to build a series of models analyzing the evolution of innovation. This is made possible by the interdisciplinary nature of IGERT. The cohort is composed of an evolutionary biologist, an archeologist, and a biocultural anthropologist. Because the project has focused on not only on the evolvability of innovation, but also the spread of cultural information through social networks, each member of the team is contributing to its theoretical foundation. They plan to present their findings in an IPEM Seminar in Fall 2011, and hope to publish their model, as well.
