Trainees praise program requirements

In one of our trainees own words, "The coursework involved in the IGERT traineeship has been invaluable in assisting our team project. Specifically, courses on population genetics and human behavioral ecology have shored up the theoretical and mathematical elements of the project which would have been difficult to achieve on each trainee's own." Our trainees almost unanimously name 4 aspects of our program as contributing to its educational achievements: the requirement of taking courses outside of one's own program; the required exchange to another campus; the IPEM seminar series which brings in top scientists across a broad range of disciplines and allows the trainees not only to be exposed to their research, but also to discuss broader themes and look to them for guidance in their research; and finally, our required "Evolution and Society" course.
