Growth through internships

UCR's Chemical Genomics IGERT program fosters trainee scientific growth through internship participation. Although not mandatory, to date over 50% of our trainees have conducted internships at US or European universities or research institutions. Four trainees have coordinated internships for the summer of 2011, increasing the total participation to 70%. Through internships, trainees build relationships and cultivate collaborations with exceptional scientists located at renown institutions (i.e. Max Planck Institute, Utrecht University, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, UC San Francisco, UC Irvine, U of Texas, Michigan University and Cornell University). Additionally, trainees gain access to excellent facilities with specialized equipment to advance their research. Techniques learned during these internships benefit UCR laboratories through dissemination and adoption skills. Several internships have resulted in publications.
