Achievement

As we've written in the past, a core of the curriculum is the grant writing course. Students not only how to write a grant but to write in a more concise format, focusing on the essential elements of communication. The students not only learn to write but to critically review each other's work. By the end of the semesters students not only find ambiguities in the writing, but more important, flaws in the logic of each other's proposals. The most important and rewarding aspect of this course is that the research area of the members of the class are highly interdisciplinary so the student learn to read proposals from fields very different than their own and they learn to write so that someone coming from a very different background can understand the proposal.
