Trainee wins best presentation award

BART first year student, Allyson Wright, won the Centro Stefano Franscini Conference Best Presentation Award, at the iLEAPS Stable Isotopes and Biogeochemical Cycles in Terrestrial Ecosystems conference in Ascona, Switzerland, this past March. Allyson gave a talk entitled "Analysis of atmospheric nitrogen inputs to the forest through isotope mass spectrometry". Allyson attributed the success of her talk to the interdisciplinary nature of her work and the interdisciplinary training she received this past summer. Allyson was one of only a few chemists/atmospheric scientists at the conference. Most of the other participants were biosphere oriented. The majority of the questions about her talk related to the biospheric implications of her research and she felt that her training had adequately prepared her to address these issues.
