Trainee wins awards at Bioinformatics Symposium

Preeti Bias, (IGERT associate, Electrical and Computer Engineering, ISU), won two poster awards and was chosen for the only student oral presentation this year at the 6th Annual New Mexico Bioinformatics Symposium, held Feb, 2010, in Sante Fe, NM. Preeti presented work in which she took the lead in a multi-institutional effort to develop a web portal for metabolomics experiments (http://www.plantmetabolomics.org). Preeti's accomplishments, under the supervision of her ISU IGERT co-mentors Julie Dickerson (Computer Engineering) and Eve Wurtele (Genetics, Development and Cell Biology), is one illustration of the success of the IGERT training program in Computational Molecular Biology in promoting collaborative interdisciplinary training and research at ISU.
