Achievement

We continued our Research Grant Proposal Competition this year. The purpose of the research grant proposal competition is to foster team experience in writing grant proposals and carrying out interdisciplinary research. It supports interdisciplinary materials research and education while addressing fundamental problems in science and engineering. Proposals strongly emphasize the integration of the expertise of two or more research groups to foster authentic collaborative research. The proposed research has been a program that would be possible to carry out in one or more of the IGERT research groups (or other available facilities). At the very least, the initial results should be within reach with the accessible facilities. That is to say, this is something the research team could actually work on (not simply dream of what could be done with an extra million dollars in equipment money).
