About Me

I am a professor of neuroscience, Head of the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and hold the Pickworth Chair in Neuroscience. I earned an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (1979). I established a computational neuroscience program to train and mentor students interested in computational approaches to biological problems. My laboratory currently works toward a better understanding of how neurons encode information needed to plan and execute limb movements.
