About Me

Dr. Jeffrey A. Siegel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the holder of the J. Neils Thompson Centennial Teaching Fellowship in Civil Engineering, He received his B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore College in 1995 and his Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering in 2002. Dr. Siegel and his research team have ongoing research on HVAC filtration, portable and passive air cleaners, ozone reactions with building materials, particle resuspension, residential indoor air quality, and the connections between ventilation, energy and indoor air quality. He is the recipient of the Early Career Award from the International Society for Exposure Assessment /American Chemistry Council, the 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Grant, and the ASHRAE New Investigator Award. He teaches courses on indoor air quality, building systems, and design of energy efficient and healthy buildings and is the recipient of the Cockrell School of Engineering Award for Outstanding Teaching by an Assistant Professor. He is the co-director of the National Science Foundation funded Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) graduate program in Indoor Environmental Science and Engineering at The University of Texas and the Principal Investigator of ASHRAE RP-1596: Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality in Retail Stores.
