Designer Crystals for Sustainable Electronics
Surface chemistry controls self-assembly of quantum dots
Researchers can control the structure of crystals of quantum dots by varying the number of molecules bound to the surface of each dot, thereby creating “designer crystals.” Each quantum dot is a nanometer-scale lead sulfide crystal.
