3-12 month research opportunities for graduate students and postdocs at AIST, Tsukuba, Japan

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has research fellowships (internships) available – 10 slots – for US graduate students or postdocs to conduct research at any of the AIST labs (http://www.aist.go.jp/index_en.html) in areas that will potentially contribute to realization of a low carbon society. The internship provides RT airfare, housing, and daily subsistence for 3-12 months. The program guidelines and the application form links are below. The application deadline is September 30, 2010 for a start date of on or before March 31, 2011.


AIST is the largest national laboratory in Japan and over 3,000 researchers (including over 500 foreign researchers) conduct cutting-edge research in areas such as Environment, Energy, Life sciences, Biotechnology, Information technology, Electronics, Nanotechnology, Materials, Metrology and measurement science, and Applied geosciences. This is an excellent opportunity for graduate students and beginning postdocs to gain international research experience.
