SpectraWatt is now hiring the following the position: DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING
POSITION SUMMARY:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Director of Engineering is responsible for owning the process flow, directing, coordinating, and developing all process/procedural activities and equipment specifications for SpectraWatt manufacturing operations. This position ensures that process and personnel capabilities are continuously developed and maintained for a highly efficient and functional system supporting a high volume 24/7 manufacturing operation.
- Reviews machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and increase optimal utilization. Directs engineering activities to modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop metrology procedures. Insures coordination of technology implementation on production floor. Owns operational Quality. Owns line yield. Effectively influences other groups as needed to execute short term needs.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- As leader of the process technology team, this position selects, develops, and evaluates personnel and selects top engineering individuals with world class talent in the PV industry or related industry to develop next generation technology.
- Thorough, hands on working knowledge of PV devices, including testing, design performance versus device layout and manufacturability.
- Working knowledge of device physics, thermal transport, PV processing and manufacturing.
Cost:
- Drive continuous technology improvements, cost improvements, cost reduction and quality improvement projects. Coordinate plans with production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Interacts with production, purchasing and controlling to ensure efficient operation.

Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Engineering or relevant science
- Minimum of 10 years direct engineering management experience, and process technology leadership in solar cell manufacturing environment.
- Experience with yield, cost, capacity management: DOE, SPC, FMEA, and Process Mapping.
- Desire to stay on the leading edge of the renewable energy industry
- Seasoned Technology expert with expertise in engineering and leadership experience.
- Ideal candidate thrives in a start up environment.
Training Requirements:
- General Safety.
- Six Sigma and other statistical analysis methodologies.

Work Environment:
- Work usually performed in a manufacturing center setting.
