Dear Colleagues,
The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) is offering a short course this summer on “Teaching Socio-Environmental Synthesis with Case Studies.” We invite participants who are interested in learning and teaching about socio-environmental synthesis and in learning how to write case studies. During the workshop, participants will work to create a case study related to socio-environmental synthesis learning goals. We expect that given the rich learning contexts provided by socio-environmental issues, these case studies will be relevant for a wide range of courses. Case studies can also be written and adapted to different levels from undergraduate introductory courses to upper level graduate courses. The course will be taught by Dr. Clyde F. Herreid, Director of the NSF-funded National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science (http://sciencecases.lib.buffalo.edu/cs/), Dr. Bretton Alvaré, Assistant Professor of Anthropology- Widener University, and a team of SESYNC postdocs and leadership.
