ReSET 2012 Workshop: Speakers update

The fellows of the Clean Energy for Green Industry IGERT (Clean Green IGERT) at the University of California, Los Angeles invite you to join them for the Renewable & Sustainable Energy Technology Workshop (ReSET), focusing on the effort to ReSET our economy from conventional to renewable technology. The workshop will take place on April 12-13, 2012. Registration is free. Travel stipends are available to those who present posters.

Featuring panel discussions on:

  • Technological Innovations
  • Electric Vehicle Adoption and Technology

Participating plenary speakers and panelists include:

Dr. Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, and Professor of Health Policy and Management, Columbia University
Plenary Speaker. Named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2004 and 2005.

Jonathan Parfrey, Executive Director, Climate Resolve. He has served as director and board member for several committees, including his current appointment with the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners.

Mark Goodstein, Executive Director, Cleantech LA. A serial entrepreneur who has been starting companies and other ventures for over 15 years.

Dr. Linda Sapochak, Program Director, Division of Materials Research, National Science Foundation. Responsible for the CHE-DMR-DMS Solar Energy Initiative (SOLAR), Chemistry and Materials Research in Cultural Heritage Science (CHS), and Solid State and Materials Chemistry (SSMC) programs.

Dr. Lynden A. Archer, Professor & Academic Director, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CHEME), Cornell University. Co-director of the KAUST-Cornell Center for Energy and Sustainability. His research focuses on transport properties of polymers and organic-inorganic hybrid materials.

Dr. Ramteen Sioshansi, Assistant Professor, Integrated Systems Engineering, Ohio State University. His research focuses on the integration of advanced energy technologies, including energy storage, renewables, and electric vehicles, in energy systems.

Marvin Moon, Director of Power System Engineering Division, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He is responsible for the design and management of all projects related to the Power System infrastructure of the LADWP.

Dr. J. R. DeShazo, Associate Professor, Public Policy and Urban Planning, University of California Los Angeles. Director of the Luskin Center for Innovation. He is an expert in economics, public finance, and organizational governance.

Dr. Rajit Gadh, Professor, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, University of California Los Angeles. Serves on the editorial board of ACM Computers in Entertainment Publication and the CAD Journal. He works in the areas of Mobile/Wireless Internet, Wireless Multimedia, RFID edge-of-the-network technology, RFID Middleware (WinRFID), RFID-sensor interfaces (ReWINS), wireless cyber security, Smart Grid Technologies. He is the founder and Director of the Wireless Internet for Mobile Enterprise Consortium (WINMEC).
