UC Davis REACH IGERT trainee Noam Ross posted his notes from a recent workshop on floodplain restoration. Noam and fellow trainees Jaime Ashander, Kelly Gravuer, Megan Kelso, and Mary E. Mendoza, planned and hosted “Multiple Goals in Floodplain Restoration: A Historical and Ecological Perspective,” which featured speakers from agencies, non-profits, and the academy discussing tradeoffs and synergies in restoring floodplains. A lively panel discussion, moderated by faculty advisor Jim Sanchirico, focused on practical dimensions of floodplain restoration in California closed the workshop.
