IGERT Trainee Named Technology Fellow, UCLA Office of Intellectual Property

Description

Announcement
Omar Asensio, a National Science Foundation (NSF) IGERT trainee at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), has been named a Technology Fellow at the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property (OIP). The technology fellows program is a new track in technology commercialization and intellectual property management beginning summer 2012. It is a selective program designed for Ph.D. students and postdocs.

OIP’s technology fellows play a role in evaluating UCLA inventions for market commercialization and patentability. Fellows gain exposure to “technology transfer,” the business of commercializing inventions from lab to market in an entrepreneurial setting.

About the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property
The UCLA Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Sponsored Research (OIP-ISR) manages IP and licensing for the more than $1 billion research portfolio on campus. It is currently looking to expand its footprint in patenting activity, licenses and startups.
