IGERT Fellows Lead Sensory Program for Youth

Description

IGERT Fellows Gregg Tabot from the University of Chicago and Chris Bresee from Northwestern University facilitated a sensory program through Project Exploration’s Science Digest on Friday, November 11, 2011. Through the program, 14 middle and high school students from Chicago Public Schools learned about pursuing a career in the biological sciences and the science of sensory perception, and engaged in three activities that tested their active and passive perception.

Project Exploration is a nonprofit science education organization in Chicago that works to ensure communities traditionally overlooked by science—particularly minority youth and girls—have access to personalized experiences with science and scientists. At the heart of our work are youth programs, which impact the lives of hundreds of students each year by fostering a long-term interest in science.
